Most people freeze in front of a camera.

You won't have to guess what to do with your face.

Small changes, one at a time, until you forget the camera's there.

The work

Still you. Just relaxed.

Who it's for

One face, three jobs.

  1. Business and LinkedIn

Attorneys, real estate agents, financial advisors and founders, on a backdrop that suits your field.

  2. Actors

Theatrical and commercial looks that fit how you get cast, framed for casting sites and 8×10s.

  3. Corporate teams

I bring the lights and backdrop to your office, so the whole team matches without leaving the building.

How a session works

Four stops. No guessing.

  1. 01

    Plan

A short call about where the photos will be used and the look you're after. The wardrobe guide covers what to bring.

  2. 02

    Shoot

I coach one small adjustment at a time, working on your jaw, eyes and posture until the tension is gone.

  3. 03

    Choose

Every frame comes up on a screen as we shoot, and we pick your favorites together before you leave.

  4. 04

    Receive

Retouched, high-resolution files of the images you chose, usually within three days. Ready for LinkedIn, your website and print.

Pay for the frames you love.

Meet Bryan Engel

Confident. Approachable. Both at once.

Since 2017 I've photographed real estate agents, lawyers, corporate teams, models and actors. Most of them hated having their picture taken.

So I don't ask you to pose. I tell you exactly what to do, one small change at a time. The squinch is confidence. The smile is approachability.

In January 2027, 101 Headshots moves to Carlsbad, on the same Highway 101 it's named for.

Client reviews

Word for word, from Google.

I recently updated my professional headshot using Bryan's service. The experience was terrific. He coached me through the process to ensure the best results. The finish product was far better than I could have imagined. Bryan is competitively priced; but, you get more "bang for your buck." I could not be happier.

Bryan is an amazing guy! Such an amazing photographer, our office was very fortunate to find him. We had a great time with our photo shoot for our office. I would highly recommend him. We waited until he could travel to us, I did not want to use anyone else. He a great guy! Thank you Bryan for making time for us!

Questions

Good questions.

What should I wear?

Solid colors in clothes that fit well through the shoulders. Skip busy patterns, small stripes and logos. Bring a few options so we can choose together.

I hate having my picture taken. Will this work for me?

Yes. That's most of my clients. I tell you exactly what to do, one small adjustment at a time, so you don't need to know how to pose. You just have to listen.

What if I don't like any of my shots?

We keep shooting. Say so, and we'll change something and go again.

Why hire a headshot photographer instead of a general photographer?

Because a headshot is its own skill. A great wedding or family photographer can take a nice picture of you, but a headshot lives or dies on a few millimeters of jaw, eyes and smile. Headshots are my specialty, so the whole session is built around getting you confident and approachable in a tight frame.

Can you photograph our whole team?

Yes. I set up a portable studio at your office and run people through in short slots. It's a $600 half day or $1,100 full day booking fee, plus $75 per edited image, with a lower rate for teams of 5 or more.
